4/17/10 - North Valley 8, Santa Clara 1
The
Bulldogs came out firing right from the first drop of the puck and the guys wanted to make a statement about beating their
cross-town rivals. Actually, this is a friendly rivalry as many of the players on the Santa Clara team are friends with
some of the Bulldogs. The Santa Clara head coach - came over to the bench prior to the start of the game and commended
North Valley's program and complimented the guys on their sportsmanship, team play, and overall great character that they
seemed to exude. He said thta he always looks forward to playing our team because he knows that the players are good
sports and that the coaches are great examples to their players.
Anyway....back to the game - The first period
saw NV put 4 goals past Santa Clara's goalie; Captain Kyle Boruff (#27) had the first two unassisted, while Alec Wiley
(#24) had his first of the season on an assist from Caleb Harter (#87). Caleb later added a goal of his own after being
assisted by Matt Woodman (#13). Total Shots on Goal: NV 10, SC 4.
The second period opened with Alt. Cpt.
Luke Flood (#21) getting a great wrist shot goal - unassisted. Kyle Boruff (#27) completed a hat trick, by burying it
in the back of the net - also unasssisted. Santa Clara finally put a goal past Senior goalie Zack Langston (#20).
Total Shots on Goal: NV 18, SC 8.
In the third period, Caleb Harter (#87) and Kyle Boruff (#27) both scored the
last two goals of the game Caleb from Kyle, and Kyle unassistedl (his fourth of the game). Total Shots on Goal:

Thanks to each of the parents and fans for coming out to support the team - we'll
see you around the rink! Coach Harter
4/10/10 - North Valley 5, Los Altos 6 OT/SO
The
first game of the new season was a traditiona "barn burner" as both teams refused to quit and wanted to get their
seasons off to a winning start. North Valley opened the scoring with two goals in the 1st period by Captain Kyle Boruff
(#27), the first being assisted by Caleb Harter (#87). However, Los Altso responded with two goals of their own to tie
the game up at 2 each at the end of the 1st. Total Shots on Goal - NV 8, LA 9. . The second opened up with
a flurry of activity from LA as they pressed and were able to score two more goals and North Valley was unable to respond
as the 2nd period came to a close. Total Shots on Goal - NV 18, LA 17.
In the 3rd period, LA scored again
to pull ahaed 5-2, but the Bulldogs were not done and were determined to give it their all. Defenseman and Alt. Cpt.
Luke Flood (#21) put a hard wrist shot past the goalie, and moments later, Zack Langston was skating out during this game
and he was able to get one into the net as well, bringing North Valley to within one goal. LA was called for a penalty
late in the third period and the Bulldogs went to work on the powerplay and the Captain (Boruff, #27) came through on
a nice goal sending the game into Overtime as the clock ran out. Total Shots on Goal - NV 40, LA 27.
As
neither team was able to end it in the OT period, the game went to a shoot-out, where Freshman goalie Eric Boruff was in net
for the Bulldogs. All three of North Valley's shooters were unable to score, and Los Altos was denied twice,
before their last shooter was able to score, winning the game. Final score, Los Altos 6, North Valley 5. I am
proud of the guys and the way they stayed focused on what they could do to contribute to the team. We are looking forward
to the next game!
