Spring 2009 - NV Red
5/16/09 - NV 5, Bellarmine 2
The JV
Bulldogs had an early "wake up call" as Bellarmine came out of the block and scored the first goal of the game.
However, Jared Goltiao (#7) scored his first of the season and tied up the game in the first period. Soon thereafter,
Matt Woodman (#13) and Caleb Harter (#87) each scored to put the Bulldogs ahead 3-1 at the end of the first period.
The second period saw the Bulldogs' Tim Kellogg (#2) and Caleb (#87) each added a goal to put the North Valley team
ahead 5-1 by the end of the second period. The third period opened up with Bellarmine scoring their second goal of the
game, however that was then end of the scoring and the game ended at NV 5, Bellarmine 2.
5/2/09 - NV 5, St. Lawrence Plaid 2
The
JV Bulldogs faced off against rival St. Lawrence again and it was a crowd pleaser. SL opened up the scoring in the first
period, however, AC Tim Kellogg (#2) was able to tie the game up on a nice goal. The period ended with the
score tied 1-1.
In the second period, the Jr. Bulldogs were able to kill off a couple of penalties, and add a couple
of goals of their own - Captain Zack Langston (#33) and Caleb Harter (#87) each scored and it put NV ahead for good.
SL scored to get close, but in the third period, both Tim Kellogg (#2) and Caleb Harter (#87) were able to each
score again and the final score ended at 5-2, NV.
4/18/09
- North Valley Red 5, Mountain View 4 - OT/SO
The JV Bulldogs opened the scoring with a quick goal
by AC Tim Kellogg (#2). Mountain View quickly responded with three unanswered goals in the first period to make it 3-1,
however North Valley was able to go on the power play and put one past the Mtn. View goale on a great pass from Tim Kellogg
and shot and score by team Captain, Zack Langston (#33). The period ended with Mtn. View leading 3-2.
The second period was tough for the JV Bulldogs as they took a couple of penalties, but Mtn. View was unable to score.
The third period saw an explosion of scoring as Mtn. View added to their lead to make it 4-2, but the Bulldogs
fought back to scored two unanswered goals to tie it up late. With just under 2 minutes to go, the Bulldogs
took a delay of game penaly and had to "kill off" the penalty as Mtn. View threw everything they had
at the "Dawgs. The game ended in a tie, 4-4 and the penalty carried over to the sudden death overtime period
of 5 minutes. The Bulldogs were able to kill the rest of the penalty and neither team scored in the OT.
So, the game came down to a shoot-out, and North Valley's three shooters were, Tim Kellogg, Caleb Harter, and Matt Woodman
(#13). Tim and Caleb were shut down, and goalie Carl Harter (#16) was able to shut down the first two Mth. View shooters
as well. Matt Woodman was able to put his shot into the back of the net to make it 5-4, and goalie Carl Harter (#16)
was able to stone the last Mtn. View shooter for the shoot out victory!
4/18/09 - North Valley Red
5, Bellarmine 1
Caleb Harter (#87) led all scorers with a hat-trick (3 goals). Zack Langston
(#33) and Christian Catalan (#12) each added one as well. Eric Boruff played in the nets for the Jr. Bulldogs as they
pulled off their first win of the season.
4/11/09- NV 3, Santa Teresa 6
The
Bulldogs were pitted against yet another D4 team, and they were out to show that they could improve on their game.
North Valley opened the game up with the first score by AC Matt Woodman (#13). Santa Teresa quickly scored to tie it
up, however, just minutes later, AC Tim Kellogg (#2) put one past the goalie to make it 2-1. Santa Teresa once again
tied it up, but Captain Zack Langston (#33) scored on a North Valley power play to make it 3-2 at the end of the first period.
Santa Teresa scored four times in the second period to make the final score 6-3.
4/4/09 - NV 1, Mitty
B 7
Most of the team members that make up the JV team are guys that have very little skating or hockey
experience. However, they are led by a few players that have stuck with the program and are anxious to achieve some
wins this season: Captain Zack Langston (#33), skates as a forward on the JV team and plays Goalie for the Varsity; AC Jared
Goltaio (#17), provides a solid example of a great work ethic and is always hustling to get to loose pucks; AC Tim Kellogg
(#2) is "the pest" as he is always giving opposing defense's something to worry about; and AC Matt Woodman
(#13), who is showing that he can play both offense and defense.
The JV Bulldogs were pitted against a D4 team
in Mitty B, and the game was pretty much all Mitty as they scored seven unanswered goals. However the highlight of the
night was when AC Tim Kellogg (#2) was able to dance his way through Mitty's defense and put the puck past the goalie
with just 24 seconds remaining in the game! It ruined Mitty's shutout and gave the Bulldogs something to cheer about!
