The Bulldogs got off to a slow start as they let Lincoln score a couple of goals before the Bulldogs were able
to put one of their own into the net as Captain Carl Harter (#19) scored unassisted in the first period. Lincoln also
added a third goal late in the first period to close out the period up, 3-1. The second period didn't start too
much better for the Bulldogs as we allowed another two goals and we found ourselves down (but not out) 5-1.
North
Valley was able to turn up the intensity and score two more goals by Carl Harter (assisted by Kyle Boruff #27). The
second period ended with the Bulldogs down 5-3. The third period saw the Bulldogs keep the heat on the Lincoln Lions
as North Valley scored twice more - one by Kyle Boruff (#27) from AC Jon Morris (#88), and one goal unassisted by Carl Harter
(#19), his fourth of the night. The score was now knotted up at 5 apiece with only a few minutes to go!
The
Bulldogs were pressing and during the heat of the battle they gave up an "odd-man" rush in which Lincoln was able
to deflect a shot off of Carl Harter and past goalie Zack Langston into the net for their sixth and final goal of the game,
all with 23 seconds to go. Final score - North Valley 5, Lincoln 6.
1/31/09 - North Valley 3, Pioneer

It was a great game, however the Bulldogs came up a little short in their first loss of the season. North
Valley jumped out to an early lead on an unassisted goal by Captain Carl Harter (#19). Pioneer answered with their own
score a few minues later, making it 1-1, mid way through the 1st period. The Bulldogs were still full of energy and
quickly went to work by scoring two more goals: again an unassisted score by Carl (#19) and a great scoring play by Kyle Boruff
(#27) from AC Brad Zachary (#17). Pionneer responded with a goal of thier own to make the score 3-2 in favor of the
Bulldogs at the end of the 1st period.
This was all of the scoring that North Valley could muster for the game,
The guys spent a considerable amount of energy trying to get possesion of the puck as Pioneer demonstrated great control at
both ends of the rink. Pioneer went on to add three more goals throughout the 2nd and 3rd periods to make the final
score 5-3.
Though the Bulldogs suffered their first loss since last year's defeat in the Championship game,
it was a great battle with multiple shots coming from both ends. Bulldog goalie Zack Langston (#20) faced 36 shots,
while North Valley put 29 on the Pioneer goalie - who had an outstanding game. On to next week!
