6/11/11 - Championship Game North Valley 5, Los Gatos 6 in
OT SOG 38-26 Los Gatos
The Bulldogs had lost to Los Gatos earlier in the season (7-3) and were looking
forward to repaying the favor in the Championship game. North Valley raced out to a 3-1 lead through the second period,
until LG finally scored to get close by the end of the 2nd. Going into the 3rd, the game was all tied 3-3, and when
LG scored mid-way throught the perod to make it 4-3, spirits started sink a bit. Los Gatos continued their skillful
passing and scored another goal with about 1:35 to go in the period to put themselves up 5-3! The Bulldogs regrouped
and were challenged to go out and score a couple of goals at the end of the game to try and tie it up. Well,
that's exactly what they did, and with time winding down, North Valley rallied to tie the game at 5 each and we were headed
for OT.
In OT, Captain Kyle Boruff took off and appeared to have an opportunity to win it for the Bulldogs, however
Los Gatos played great defense and denied his attempt at a miracle comeback. Just about a 1:30 into overtime, Los Gatos
crashed the Bulldog net and was able to score the Championship winning goal.
North Valley had taken the #1 seeded
team to the brink of elimination, but we couldn't finish them off. Though it was extremely disappointing, I cannot
begin to tell you how proud I am of the guys and their efforts. Even being down two goals in the final 1:35 of
the game, they did not quit and believed that they could win the game. There are eight seniors on the team and most
of them have been skating for me for the past 6 years or so. It is difficult to see them go, but they go out with great
pride in what was accomplished in front of their faithful fans.
Great work boys, you deserved more, but earned
everything you got! You guys are the greatest! Coach Harter
6/11/11 - Semi-final Game North
Valley 4, Pioneer 3 SOG 28-25 Pioneer
The Bulldogs came out fired up to face off against the
2nd seeded Pioneer team. North Valley had lost to Pioneer earlier in the season in OT 8-7, so the guys were looking
for payback, and they got it! Even though Pioneer outshot NV, the Bulldogs were able to withstand the onslaught and
eliminate Pioneer and move on the Championship game vs. Los Gatos.
